Former Chesterfield and York City player Craig Clay believes that Grimsby can win all 5 of their remaining games "without a doubt", but insists that The Mariners "must stay focussed".
Following Grimsby's victory over relegation-threatened Welling United, Clay says the result was "massive" because Welling were not to be taken for granted.
"It was a massive result for us. We knew we couldn't take Welling for granted as it was a possible banana skin, but the lads kept focussed and did a professional job."
"And with results going our way, it's going to be a great finale to the season!"
The 22-year-old says that the squad are in high spirits with everything to play for.
"Without a doubt we can win our final 5 games. The morale of the squad is right up there but we've got to stay focussed though. We have everything to play for."
Clay then urged the fans to get behind the players for the last few games, claiming that the fans have a "massive impact" on performances and also morale.
"The fans have a massive impact on our performances and our morale. The crowd at away games has been unbelievable. These themes are class!"
After it was announced that Grimsby had sold their whole 2500 allocation for their Easter Monday clash with Alfreton, Clay said, "Taking 2500 to Alfeton is incredible. Especially considering their average home attendance is roughly 700."
Then the midfielder spoke about the possibility of The Mariners not achieving their aim and settling for the play-offs.
"If worse does come to worse and we only make the play offs then I don't think the lads are scared of anyone. We are in great form so we will be confident against anyone."
